Virgin Atlantic Airways was founded in 1984, the airline is airline is a British commercial airline that is based in Crawley. In 2016, at the World Travel Awards, the airline was awarded the Europe’s Leading Airline to North America. The parent company of this airline is Virgin Atlantic Limited. Virgin Atlantic Airways operates from London Heathrow, Manchester and Gatwick Airports.

Six years after Virgin Atlantic Airways was launched, the airline sold over one million flights, this was a record, they also made another record by being the first airline to provide business class passengers with their own TVs. In the 1990s and 2000s, Sir Richard Branson and a team of dedicated employees were responsible for the expansion of the airline, the airline also evolved its super economy class into an award winning premium economy class.

In the 2000s, the airline developed and transformed their Upper class suites with the most comfortable beds in the business class. The airline does not have any airline subsidiary following the cessation of its domestic brand Little Red but they have a codeshare agreements with several airline across the globe such as; Virgin Australia, Delta Air Lines, Air China, Air New Zealand, Jet Airways, Flybe, Singapore Airlines. The airline is not a member of any airline alliance.

Virgin Atlantic flies to about 4 domestic destinations and 27 international destinations in 16 countries in almost all the continent of the world. These destinations include; New York, Dubai, Johannesburg, Chicago, Hong Kong, Havana, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Washington D.C, Belfast, and so much more.

The airline is one of the most popular airlines flying to London (LHR), they offer three cabin configurations on its aircrafts, these cabin configurations are; Upper Class or Business, Premium Economy and Economy Classes. The airline offer personal in-flight entertainment to all passengers on-board across all classes. Like most major airlines Upper Class or Business cabin has wide seats that can incline to become long beds. Passengers in this class cabin have access to chauffeur service.

The airline in-flight entertainment comes in the form of a personal seatback AVOD. It comes with TV shows, blockbuster films, Music, Games suitable for all ages. The airline in-flight magazines are called Vera and its available to all passengers. The airline provides hot meals for all passengers, this depends on the flight duration and ticket class.

Virgin Atlantic have a frequent flyer program called The Flying Club. Like most airline loyalty programs, passengers collect miles within a calendar year. The more you fly with the airline, the more miles you collect to go up the tier. . There are several benefits for members of their frequent flyer program. These benefits include excess baggage allowance seat upgrade, priority check-in and boarding, access to lounges. The miles collected can be spent with other retail partners worldwide.

Virgin Atlantic Baggage Allowance

The airline offers standard baggage allowance, like most airlines the airline baggage allowance varies according to ticket classes and flight routes. For passengers in Economy class, they are allowed to carry one or two bags weighing up to 23kg. Premium Economy passengers are allowed to carry one or two bags each carrying 23kg, this depends on the routes. Upper class passengers are allowed to carry baggage weighing up to 32kg on all routes. Passengers traveling with infants are allowed additional baggage.

Check-in

Online Check-in – Virgin Atlantic offer online check-in to all passengers, the online check-in is open for 24hours before flight take off and closes 90 minutes before flight take off.

Airport Check-in – Passengers who fail to check-in online can check-in at the airport check-in desk. Passengers are advised to come early so as to avoid long queue at the airport check-in
